The subject of commodities has always been a controversial topic. Classical economists, like Adam Smith, viewed a market based economy, unfettered by government regulation, as most beneficial to society ... Today's economists approach the subject of commodities with a similar level of dischord ... although their debate has a different aim. Amidst the cacophonyof views, many are left confused.
